The day book and cash drawer
What the day book shows, how the cash drawer is different, and how to count your cash at closing.

The day book is the cash list for the drawer for one shift. It starts with the cash you count and put in the drawer at the start. Then it shows all cash in and out. You can only read it. It comes from your real journal entries.
You count your cash in the cash drawer at closing. Enter how much cash is in the drawer. RestroEngine shows the difference from what your cash sales say. You see it at once, not at the end of the month.
Card, bank transfer, and other payments go to their own accounts by themselves. Each payment method links to an account. So you only need to count the cash.
Every closed bill goes into a real double entry ledger in the background. The day book and cash drawer are easy views of this ledger. You can see the full cash and bank ledger when you need all the details.
